PN Racing double A-Arm Review

When PN released the double A-arm suspension I couldt quit staring at the pictures.
Man it looks great.

The product:
- The finish is very very good.

- Every part fits well together. I only had to shim it a littlebit to take out some slop
- Easy to adjust ride height, camber and preload. Not so easy to adjust caster.
- It has the same with as the stock mini-Z suspension. Can be used on all body's.
- Surprisingly smooth when you think of all moving parts

Function:

  • Highly adjustable
  • Capable of giving extreme amounts of steering
  • On throttle steering is very good
  • High speed steering is not so good, as it is to narrow for my taste. Induces scrub
  • Turn-in is good.
  • Adds a little weight to the front end of the car. Can be a good thing

Since it is so highly adjustable, you can be sure to find a reasonable setup for your car and driving style. It works incredibly good on smooth tracks, but not so good on bumpier tracks. More on that later.

A couple of things I am not happy about with this front end:
  • Tools. You have to buy yourself a good allen wrench in 0.9mm. It is not supplied with the kit, and the cheap wrenches that often comes with other parts do not work very well on this.
  • Bump steer. This is never a good thing. when the suspension moves, the car steers on its own. This means it will not track straight, and can be a handful to control. Especially on bumpy tracks. Also on high grip tracks where the car rolls a bit in the corners it tends to bump steer.
  • Scrub. If this front end had been a couple of millimeters wider it would have been so much better. As it is stock with, it will induce scrub. Especially when you have to go on a wider offset front wheels.

Conclusion:
It is very well made. Very tough. I have not broken a single part on this front end. It is quite consistent regarding grip and setup.
Mine came with Delrin balls, so no polishing was needed.

It is a very fast setup, but a little difficult to drive consistently good laps. This is because of the bump steer, and also the scrub problems.
The tires overheats because of the scrub, and the grip fades away.

If you have a smooth track, with medium to low grip, I think this is one of the fastest things out there.
If your track is a little bumpy, and the grip level is good you are better of with a WTF type front end, or even the stock front end.

This is of course my personal wiev of things. This front end has won a lot of races world wide and can be extremely fast in the hands of the right driver.

I always like to mention lap records in my reviews, and have to do that here also.
On our fastest most flowing track this front end is about 2 tenths of the record.
On our tightest most technical track it is only hal a tenth away from the record. This track is also absloutely smooth, so you get the picture of what i am talking about regarding bump steer and also scrub.
