Kyosho Mini-Z Ferrari 458 Italia GT2

Kyosho have released some nice Mini-Z racing bodies recently.

Just got a couple of Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 to test at the track.
98mm wheelbase
2 offset front
3 offset rear.

Here it is pictured with 2,9 offset front and 3,4 offset rear. No problems with rubbing or anything (only small mod done. Picture at the bottom of the article.

It's a beautiful body, that are reasonably light, wide and low.
I have not had a Autoscale body in my hands for a long time, but I have to say these are very nice looking and have a great finish.

Surprisingly the red one are 2 grams lighter than the yellow one. No idea why.
I cant wait for the whitebodys to begin testing, so I hacked up the yellow one to see where I can shed some weight.
The window weighs 8,1 gram.
The rear bumber weighs 4,5 gram.
The body without bumper and windshield weighs 26,3 gram.

Since there are no available lexan windshields yet, I looked around the parts bin to see what I could possibly use. The R8 windshield almost fits, and its good enough for track testing :)

Without rear bumper and with Lexan window it weighs 28,7 gram. Everything else is in place.

The bumper can easily be lightened around 1,5 grams and still be legal.
The light buckets, wing and winglets should take care of 1 - 2 grams.

Look at this rear end :D

The only small mod done to get proper clearance for the rear wheels was to smooth out this edge at the rear wheelwell.

  1. Hi!

    Nice review. Thanks for it.

Will this fit onto a Atomic AMZ or at least a Kyosho AWD?

    Thanks again.
